Farlington Marshes, Portsmouth
I’ve lived in Portsmouth for quite some time now and I’ve always eyed up the Farlington Marshes, but never made the walk over there. With me doing my weekly walks this felt like a good time to tick that box.
The walk there was nice and very flat so an easy walk, although with Foxes Forest currently semi-blocked off due to the coastal defences being built there, I ended up walking alongside the A27 - which wasn’t so nice, followed by a walk along the Eastern Road which was almost as bad.
However, getting through all that and getting on the marshes was lovely. I only walked down the West side of the marshes as it was bitterly cold being completely exposed to the coastal wind.
The marshes were filled with bird watchers and home to quite an array of resting and flying birds, it was lovely to watch them all flying overhead. I’d like to go back at some point and do the entirely circuit, maybe when the weather is a little warmer.
