KEG @ The Edge of the Wedge
Bands Playing; Keg, Gag Salon, Y
I’d never heard of Keg before but a friend was coming down to Portsmouth to watch them perform at The Wedgewood Rooms, and as it was basically on my doorstep I thought ‘Why not’ and ticked off going to a gig from my goals for this year nice and early.
Gag Salon came on stage shortly after our arrival and began playing, I’d heard some of their stuff on Spotify and enjoyed a few tracks, but hearing them live was much better. After they were finished Why Y (I’m really not sure what their band is called) came on, they weren’t to my taste, however I found their drummer and saxaphonist to be rather captivating!
After a short delay Keg took to the stage, I’d prepared by listening to some songs on Spotify which I really enjoyed, however in person it was a whole new level; they were all filled with bounce, energy, and ‘insanity’? They were diverse and all over the place which made them a joy to watch, but also, their music was fantastic and had my foot stomping.
As usual The Wedgewood Rooms was as welcoming and friendly as ever, the staff are always so nice, especially the security guardon the door. It’s such a great venue which has a very homely feel, especially when you’re at The Edge of the Wedge.
