The Wooden Soldier

My first attempt at whittling something out of a block of bass wood actually turned into one of my favourite things I’ve made. I don’t know what I was originally trying to create out of the block but it ended up turning into a bearded soldier, a pikeman is what I see in him. After carving out the details I used some of my old modelling paints from my Warhammer days (Vallejo paints), finishing him with a dark wash to give him some depth, then a matt varnish across everything but the helmet.
