Tunisia

In August I spent a few days in Sousse, Tunisia to see the sights and take in some culture. While I was there I booked a tour bus and went for a trip around a few locations and experienced a few varying hotels.

The first stop was the Amphitheater of El Jem which was a fantastic view, we spent the entire day there walking around and exploring, it was so good to explore all the nooks and crannies, giving you a real feel for the size of it.

We also visited Hotel Sidi Driss which was the set for the Lars Homestead on Tatooine, in Star Wars. It was rammed with people coming to see the set and personally I felt really let down by the whole experience, it felt cheap and tacky.

The tour also took me to the Salt Desert of Chott El Jerid which was flat, so flat, and desolate, but beautiful in the open emptiness of it.

After this I believe the tour took us to Jebi National Park, Sahara Desert which is where we all dressed in ‘traditional’ clothes and got to ride camels across the Sahara which was the highlight of the whole excursion!
